About Dr. Thorn
Dr. Tamara Idette Thorn is a native of Gastonia, North Carolina, and has been a permanent resident of Georgia since 2011. Dr. Thorn began her career as a psychiatric technician with Gaston Memorial Hospital, now Caromount Health, after receiving her BSW from UNC-Pembroke (UNCP) in May 2000. She completed USC-Columbia’s Advanced Standing MSW program in 2002 and worked with Pathways Mental Health, now Partners, in various clinical positions. Following NC's Mental Health Privatization Act, she saw the need to further her skillset and relocated to Wilkes-Barre, PA, to attend the King’s College Physician Assistant Program in 2007.
Dr. Thorn has worked primarily as a psychiatric physician assistant (PA-C) after graduating from the King’s College Physician Assistant program in 2009. Dr. Thorn relocated to rural Southeast Georgia in 2009 and completed her contract with National Health Service Corps (NHSC) in 2018. She has maintained and gained additional skills as a social work professional. Dr. Thorn has remained abreast of the changes and evolution to the Social Work field and provides clinical supervision.

Dr. Thorn has completed advanced training in providing clinical supervision for mental health and addiction counselors pursuing their licensure.
Dr. Thorn holds the ACS, CCS, NASW-NC, GA, and NCSE certified clinical supervisor designations.
